ADULT ADHD ASSESSMENT
Awareness of ADHD has been growing steadily over the last couple decades but mental health stigma can lead many parents to overlook or normalize problems their children may be having, preventing them from being evaluated and diagnosed with ADHD during childhood. Therefore, it is not uncommon for adults to struggle with ADHD without ever suspecting it, only to learn later in life that their may be both and explanation and a treatment for some of their problems they have faced throughout their lives. Though increasingly common, self-diagnosis of ADHD is highly vulnerable to inaccuracy and in many cases, medication providers will want a patient to undergo a formal clinical evaluation before initiating treatment. Dr. Robinson offers formal ADHD assessment designed for this purpose. His evaluation includes a clinical interview and psychological testing. The full evaluation takes 1.5-2 hours to complete. Because the attentional testing can only be completed in person, this evaluation must be performed in person. A report for your medical provider is typically ready within 3 days.
PRE-BARIATRIC ASSESSMENT
Patients who are seeking a bariatric surgical procedure to help them lose weight will usually be required by their insurance provider or surgeon to undergo an evaluation to obtain "psychiatric clearance" to undergo the surgery. This process is designed not as a barrier to surgery, but as a safeguard to help maximize positive outcomes for patients. Though most evaluations reveal no cause for concern, is some cases, a patient can be found to have stressors or psychiatric issues that are inadequately treated or not treated at all. When these issues are deemed to be a threat to the patient's recovery, it may be in the patient's best interest that these issues be addressed and stabilized before undergoing a a bariatric procedure. In order to ensure a patient's experience is considered from multiple angles, the pre-bariatric evaluation incorporates information from both a clinical interview and a multi-dimenensional psychological test designed to give a diverse overview of the patient's psychological experience as well as their approach to the testing process. The full evaluation takes 1.5-2 hours to complete and can be completed in person or via video visit. A report for your medical provider is typically ready within 5 days.
